That’s already sold as a Yaris sedan in Canada. And the iM is already sold as the Auris/Corolla hatchback in the rest of the world. Scion models will just be rolled back into Toyota.

To attract young, new buyers, to the Toyota family. Didn’t work.

I wonder what they’ll do with the FR-S ? I assume Toyota might re-introduce as the GT86? Just let Subaru keep it?

I hope this means that Toyota does re-evaluate their lower end marketing strategy. They’ve got the midrange nailed pretty well (Camry) and their high-margin products as well (Lexus, Land Cruiser, 4Runner), but they have no intro platform. The Corolla and the Yaris both need work (even after the iM gets rebadged as a Matrix or Corolla wagon and the iA a Yaris sedan), and the FR-S/GT86 is an intro to nowhere. I mean, once you have the coin to step up from an FR-S, what do you do? Buy a BMW or a Mustang? At least Subaru has a 30-40k sporty product to step into.

They can’t just let Subaru keep it, Subaru can’t afford it on their own. They need the extra volume that comes with a wider dealer network.

Yeah, the average age of a Scion owner is 49.. I think it failed pretty miserably. lol.

Like I said, most Scion vehicles will become Toyotas.

There will be the car that’s being developed together with BMW.
And there’s the Lexus RC. Hopefully the next generation RC will be based on the IS, rather being another combination of IS and GS parts.

If Toyota’s re-evaluating their strategy now, it’ll show up in their products in about 3 years, so the BMW joint venture is a valid point to make. BMW also has an iffy low-end strategy...though I acknowledge the main way to spell a counterargument to that is MINI.
The Lexus RC being the porkiest luxury coupe at the barbecue does not, regardless of what else it does well, make a clear sales linkage from the FR-S/GT86.
